Heres a bit of a run down on the first day trialling the Lipo Battery The battery is a Turnigy Nano Tech 4200 40-80c Discharge Matched Hard Case The first race was a non event wrong setup so will just forget about that one. Race two transponder plugged in setup changed the first thing I noticed was the extra punch off the turns for about the first 6 feet it was fast once up to speed there wasnt a lot of difference. I deliberatley didn't recharge the pack all day just to see how it lasted we did about 60 laps and it did appear to loose some of its punch but it has only been charge once not sure if they get better with a few charges in it on the other hand the lap times didn't drop off a great amount as you can see from the data sheet the pack never heated up and my Fantom motor was the same temperature after every race 47 degrees.Yes the car did take some big hits and no problems so far with the pack if you have any questions just ask all I can say so far is coming off the turns was great fun. Oh forgot to say the Lipo dropped the weight of the car by 200grams Cheers Rich 41B

Second race day report for the Lipo trial I have run the lipo at a meeting down in palmy but because of car issues at the meeting I found it to hard to get accurate information to post. I ran the Lipo and NIMH batteries in different races today Jen has the times but they were with in a tenth or so of each other I have changed the gear back to normal HB track gearing so the car is slower than the first outing with the lipo I also recharged the Lipo this time to see if that made a difference I actually felt the car was quickest with the Nimh in the third race of the day but the times will tell After charging the lipo (in a charge bag) there was not warmth for the pack and the motor and Lipo ran colder than at the first meeting 42 degrees today was colder than the first meeting. So far so good with the hitting no sign of damage or stress of the pack not to much more to say really.

Meeting 3 with the Lipo Back to running the Lipo for the whole day again without charging it at all not to sure on the lap times per race but it seemed to perform best in the feature race after the car had turned at least 45 laps oh maybe not 45 it was upside down for a few of those and then it did the 20 lap feature with no noticable drop in performance hard to till the difference when running against a full field of cars but a quick look at lap times it seemed to be roughly 1/2 a second faster so it does have a slight increase in performance. As I have mentioned the car was rolled a couple of times and bashed around with 18 cars in the race it got a fair beating with not signs of damage or stress so far so good.temperatures were the same as the other meetings 19 degrees from the Lipo and 48 degrees from the motor.

Well not really a lot to say this time around the car and lipo combo is getting better with every meeting I do with it, and I had some good results in the 4 races we ran today, the Lipo was not charged at all again today between races and the times got faster as the day went by all up the car would have done 60+ laps and showed no signs of slowing down. Still no signs of damage either.

Another report on the Lipo trial at Hawkes Bays winter series today not to sure on car numbers for the first heat think there may have been 15 or 16 so the car got bashed around a good amount in this race I had a better motor in for this race (famous last words) but it failed before the end of the race as they say they always go there best before they fail. Anyway the car was to fast and really ugly to drive as the times will show put a silver can in for the next race not to sure where I finished Jen will put the results up at a later date seemed to cruize around at a good speed for a silver can next race back to the trusty club motor no problems for the rest of the day didn't recharge at all and the Lipo had been sitting on a storage charge since the last time I used it which was the 4/08/2013 the car completed around 60 laps today, all in all still no sign of damage or wear what I would really like to do is run it at a meeting say the best pairs on the 19th (wink wink Cam) just to compare it with other cars from clubs outside of the Bay. Ive just had a look at the date I first used the Lipo so the 6 month trial period is almost up so stay tuned.

Not much to report this time the car was bashed from here to there and back again and still no issues with the Lipo car was rolled twice and hit while upside down so has had a good dealing to and no recharge during the day once again around 60 laps complete.

Got to turn some laps with the lipo outside today down at the new Palmy venue sorry no lap time's but we did get to race outside in the heat where I have been told that lipos hate the heat anyway. We did 20 lap races and Robert was putting about 2000 MAH back into his NIMH cells after each race (super grippy surface) so I did 2 races and then recharged only to put in 1809 MAH so did the last 3 races without a top up as for the heat I put the car in the shade after every race and no signs of warming up at all. The car took it's fear shear of hits today and once again no sign of problems .
